![]() Sheepy kidnaps the resident hamster...
Last year's contestants unanimously named fashion industry's next great supermodel, Agyness Deyn as the epitome of Androgyny. This June, So You Think You're Andro? (SUTYA) is back in search for the face of 2010. The crown goes to the individual who is most confident of his/her sexuality.
The idea of being androgynous blurs the lines between genders and promotes flexible sexuality. Sexuality is redefined in your own terms as you are empowered like a swaying pendulum between the strict definitions of masculinity and femininity. It has been a while since I've met the Queen of gender yoga and Two Queens resident hamster, Cara - who can forget our adorable hammie's performance of "saggy boobs" during SUTYA? Her spontaneity, creativity and sincerity grabbed our hearts in 2008, uprooting, and making them vote her the Champion of SUTYA 2008. It has been a long time since we've heard from her, so I kidnapped her...for a chat!
Qn: How has life been since the last time we've seen you?
It has been interesting watching how time flies. Months back,. I could still sacrifice my sleep to go clubbing with my friends, but the environment I'm adapting to now doesn't allow me to do that. The worst thing that can happen is to doze off at your desk while you have tons of things to be done.
Qn: What does SUTYA mean to you? ![]() There's a school of thought which goes: "You know me? Actually you don't, because even I don't know me". SUTYA was a process which helped me come to understand myself better.
For one, I never knew I could have the guts to perform in front of huge crowds, while interacting with both the audience and judges. For two, although I'm still rather shy, I have become more expressive and confident.
It is not just a competition. I've met many different fabulous people, like my fellow SUTYA mates to whom I still want to say "Thank you for being with me throughout these unforgettable months, and giving me endless support!"
Qn: What would be your ideal first date?
A date should be an enjoyable experience, life has enough hard work laid out for us. 人要懂得知足常乐 - (loosely translated to one must be content to be always happy.)
Qn: Two queens is....
Qn: Girls are....
