who dat! - February

In this issue of WHO DAT, Aie turns into a green-eyed monster and blames her parents for not giving birth to her later.

Almost every Thursday I position myself in a most inconspicuous corner. In that fancy spot, I start my routine observation of our TQP crowd.

How come kids nowadays seem to be better dressed than us when we were kids?

A tête-à-tête coffee session led to these self-drawn conclusions:

  1. THE INTERNET
  2. Parents are now better educated = better pay - less time
= kids with more pocket money + more time with friends - less time with family
  3. Kids these days are more ‘vocal’ with their opinions and expressing themselves through fashion is one good outlet
  4. Life is a bitch

Of course, the reasons are never-ending.

Alas, time does work against you so the new generation start getting all geared up about life in their teens, planning their future, charging towards their goals and hitting depression early.

Charles and his famous friends, Jean Paula (left) and Bryan Boy

Some are just lucky to get a little help along the way, like Charles Guislain.

WHO DAT.

Little is known about him at the moment. I teared at the tabs of my Google Chrome, carefully dedicating each window to a category. I pounced viciously on links with my mouse and these are all I could find;

His name is Charles Guislain. He is 16 (some say 17), and is looking good blonde. He oozes an aura which makes you not want to take your eyes off him, especially when he talks about fashion (watch his videos).

He is so soft-spoken he puts some of us girls to shame.

He wants to go to Saint Martins (I’m thinking Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts in London).

Based on the information gathered, me thinks he is an aspiring fashion designer.

Charles Guislain and his mentor, Diane Pernet

He is the present protégé of famous fashion blogger/ cult fashion icon/ multi-talented extraordinaire Diane Pernet, who is known for her talent-spotting skills. Guislain recently started his first post on his mentor’s weblog and it got everyone excited.

He has appeared on several magazines and has had his name mentioned off and online that declares him as the next big thing. He attended almost every fashion show in Paris, thanks to no other than Pernet.

Dressed in limited editions and fierce frocks, he is also friends with famous fashion bloggers like Bryan Boy, Jean Paula and Sonny Groo. He even has a fan page on Facebook.

Envious huh?

Check him out on these webbies:

About Zhou Aie
Like a (an) __________ (add word here) kitten, she pounces on all things intriguing, wriggling her tiny butt in excitement. With dirty paws she leaves her tracks, and on to the next destination you find her fresh prints. Blessed with two large observant eyes, she pores through details in her inquisitive mind. Her intuitive nature is her loyal servant; her nonchalant attitude aids her in the face of danger. To be in her good books takes more than just stroking her the right way. She might purr or she might hiss so be on your toes around her. As mysterious as the night, she surprises when you least expect it.

Deep down, she is just an adorable little pussycat. Meow. Email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
